Laura Lemay's Web Workshop: Microsoft Frontpage 97 (Laura Lemay's Web Workshop)
Published in Paperback by Sams (January, 1997)
Authors: Denise Tyler and Laura Lemay
Average review score:

Yuck. Not ready for prime time.
Lemay books have gone steadily down hill ever since Teach Yourself HTML. This particular book is the worst book I have ever read

Lost interest
I bought this book because it's back cover summary seem to show that this is what I need to learn Frontpage97. But I got bored and lost interest after going a few chapters.

I learned a lot following along with the workshop
I learned by doing the exercises. I thought there was enough information to get you up to an advanced intermediate user. It's not laid out very well and the author seemed to be rushed to get the book out the door however if you follow along you will learn some cool things about FrontPage 97.

Best Dad in the Sea (Finding Nemo Step into Reading, Step 1)
Published in Paperback by Random House Disney (15 April, 2003)
Authors: Random House Disney, Disney Rh, Amy J. Tyler, and Lori Haskins
Average review score:

Looks nothing like the motion picture.
Saw it on the bookshelf, grabbed it to buy it for my son who really liked the movie, opened it, returned it to the shelf. You don't buy a book like that for the story -- you buy it for the story and the pictures -- it's a book for younger children after all -- and you hope that the pictures will bring back the fond memories of seeing the story on big screen. But this book is so modestly illustrated that it seems totally unrelated to the film. Even the characters look different. All excitement and all that underwater magic are gone. 'Toy Story' -- from the same series of Disney books -- is illustrated much better.

Financial Broker - Finder - Business Broker - Business Consultant Kit

Zig
Very disappointing. Mostly a forms-only series of books. No intellectual "meat." Little how-to, step-by-step procedures of how to succeed in this potentially lucrative field!

If You Like My Apples: A Simple Guide to Biodynamic Gardening
Published in Paperback by Avery Penguin Putnam (March, 1997)
Authors: Clue Tyler Dennis and Luke Miller
Average review score:

This book is not about biodynamic gardening!!!
Having used organic gardening methods for years, I became interested in Rudulf Steiner's BIODYNAMIC farming and gardening methods. I hoped that was the subject of this book. I was very disappointed. Nowhere does it mentions Steiner's methods. It is a good book for beginning ORGANIC gardeners, covering composting, natural pest control, etc.

John Tyler : A President of Many Firsts
Published in Paperback by McDonald & Woodward Pub Co (16 January, 2001)
Author: Jane C. Walker
Average review score:

An overpriced pamphlet
This expensive booklet of less than 70 pages (including many illustrations) is intended as a souvenir of Tyler's restored plantation house. (Incredibly, although Tyler was born in 1790, the restorer is a grandson, still alive at the time of publication in 2001.) The pamphlet, based completely on secondary sources, is deliberately uncritical and minimizes the more unsavory features of Tyler's presidency. The three-page sketch in American National Biography provides a far more accurate understanding of the tenth president and his administration.

Women Pirates and the Politics of the Jolly Roger
Published in Hardcover by Black Rose Books (September, 1997)
Authors: Ulrike Klausmann, Marion Meinzerin, Gabriel Kuhn, Tyler Austin, Nicholas Levis, Ulrike Kalusman, Ulrike Klausman, and Marion Mainzerin

Not the best work on pirates
This book is by far not the best book that I have read on pirates. It is written more for a woman who is feeling bad about her sexuality. The book is an effort to list every woman, fictional and otherwise, that has ever had a role in maritime history. The book starts out by talking about ancient gods (yes, female gods) that related to the sea. This discussion is better saved for a book on mythology because it was a good summary of female gods but it did not pertain to pirates. The book moves on and talks about female pirates through the ages all over the world. While this is somewhat informative I believe that the significance of these woman pirates in history is way overstated. Female pirates were very few and far between, and many really shouldn't be considered pirates. The best part of the book was the discussion of the most netorious women pirates, Mary Read and Anne Bonny. These two chapters were interesting and informative but they were also burried in the book. I would suggest a book that includes but is not limited to woman pirates because the fact is that there were very few woman pirates in history. The last quarter of the book focused on the politics of the Jolly Roger. This section helped to save the book but it often repeated and contradicted the first part of the book. I noticed a few inaccurate statements in this section, but on the whole this section was well done. This book is not a total waste of time, but it gets off topic and overstates things in my opinion. Women have played a huge part in world history, just not as pirates.

Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft FrontPage 2000 in 21 Days
Published in Paperback by Sams (09 August, 1999)
Authors: Denise Tyler and Mark Taber
Average review score:

ah can't believe this is from Sams
All I can say about the book is that I can't beleieve that this book is by Sams Series. Cause I used to tell every one to buy Sams series cause they are just Great.

This book has not many but too many holes, they have started many things and without giving solutions shifted to new thing and then leaving the other one incomplete too.

The Cd works but there is nothing in it that you can say it is worth. I mean there are many things missing that have been mentioned in book that they are there.

Buying this book is going to be wasting money and nothing much more, so find some other one for Frontpage.

What has happened to SAMS series
I did use to recommend many people to buy only SAMS series books but now after reading this one I don't think I am going too.

This is the worst book I have ever read for FrontPage. Nothing is working, I mean the Samples are not is CD, and the author never replies. Please Please find some other book for Front Page learning not this one.

Database conectivity is covered the wrong way or it is not going to be wrong to say that it is Pathetic, it confuses all your concepts there.

Probably the finest book for beginners
This book is excellent for beginners. It goes step-by-step, including every detail you want to know about FrontPage. It is very well written and organized, and easy to follow.
The only thing that was a negative for me, is that some of the examples, talked about in the book, can not be find on the CD....so that was quite frustrating at first. But then again, you dont really need those.

199 Great Home Businesses You Can Start (And Succeed in for Under $1,000)
Published in Paperback by Prima Publishing (October, 1992)
Author: Tyler Gregory Hicks
Average review score:

THIS BOOK ISN'T WORTH THE PAPER IT'S PRINTED ON
The 3 reasons not to buy this book:

1. The earnings potential in this book are very unrealistic. It seems as if you can be rich with almost no work.

2. Some of the business concepts are absurd(i.e. a service that uses dogs to chase ducks away from your property)

3. The author does not have your success in mind, he just wants to sell you his books and newsletters.

I took him up on his offer to call -- very disappointing.
I took Hicks up on his offer to speak with him on the telephone. I was impressed that he would actually make his telephone number available, and would answer it himself. I had called to discuss one of his "kits". In a very amicable manner I asked Mr. Hicks for some way that I could verify his claims. Instead of responding helpfully, he said "I'll still eat tonight if you don't buy my information". He treated me like a dolt. Needless to say, I did NOT purchase anything more from him.

The Truth About Ty Hicks - Is He For Real? or a Swindler?
Why You Should Buy This Book:

If you are really serious about your financial health, here is someone who not only has done the things he teaches you, but who is actually there to help you when you need answers to questions, or individual help.

If you know anything at all about the usual "courses" and "seminars"....for getting rich in real estate, etc... you know that what happens when you buy them, no matter the quality (or lack of quality!) of the information you are given, you are either left to "sink or swim" or your questions are "answered" by a group of people hired by the course or seminar business to do customer service. Sometimes you are allowed to question the "big guy", but even then, it is usually a "stand-in-line-after-the-lecture" deal.

IWS is different, because Ty Hicks is different.

Tyler G. Hicks is a mulit-millionaire; a NewYork kind of guy: he talks fast, talks plain, and doesn't like wasting time.

I recently saw him criticized by some skeptic who called Ty and insisted on being given "proof" that what Ty teaches "really works". The man was upset because Ty did not want to play that game. But notice: the man WAS ABLE to get Ty Hicks on the phone. That is because, when you call Ty Hicks, you do not get a customer service clerk, or even a secretary... you get Ty Hicks! And Ty did not refuse to help the man make money; Ty refused to waste time "proving" ..for free... that what he has successfully done for over 30 years DOES in fact, work.

I suspect the reason Ty reacted that way is because if the man had done his homework at all, he would know that what Ty teaches works. A better thing to do would have been to call Mr. Hicks and ask a REAL QUESTION. I'm sure Mr. Hicks would have helped him beyond his wildest dreams.

I know, because Mr. Hicks helped me, many years ago. At that time, skeptics surrounding me claimed Mr. Hicks would never talk to me, and that I was a fool to even try. Because I was a VERY POOR mother with a bunch of kids; I had zero to offer Mr. Hicks. However, I had bought one of his books and a one year subscription to his newsletter. I had decided to try and find a mentor from the many authors I had read, so I took a chance and called. Mr. Hicks. Imagine my shock when Mr. Hicks himself answered the phone!

When it became obvious that Mr. Hicks not only would talk to me, but encouraged me to call him back when I needed help....and then DID HELP ME, the skeptics changed their tune to claiming Mr. Hicks was "only trying to make money off of me". At the time I found that hysterically funny. I pointed out that if that were his plan, he wasn't very bright...because at that point, Mr. Hicks was possibly earning pennies an hour ..in book royalties...counseling me! Everything Mr. Hicks did was helpful and ethical and logical. He is an incredibly wonderful person.

When I called Mr. Hicks, I had actually been on welfare (put on welfare at the insistance of my husband, who then abandoned his kids)...and was living in a town that was in the middle of a depression, with it's major industry shut down. I had six kids, three of them pre-schoolers, no job, and almost no experience.

I had some ideas, but no courage and no idea how to actually implement them.

As if he were my brother, Mr. Hicks took time to help me, step by step. Mr. Hicks answered questions I would have thought would have frustrated a successful man like him. My experience with Mr. Hicks is that he is one of the kindest, most generous men I have ever met. In the end, he helped me to purchase a brand new home of my own, with nothing down, begin a child-care business which was to blossom into a chain of child care businesses where the operators were trained and licensed, purchase rental properties and find good renters for them - BEFORE I BOUGHT THEM ....by being a good landlord and giving tenants what they need... and to use venture capital to take over a small energy-conservation company. That's not all Ty Hicks did for me; he is an incredible man. But this gives you some idea.

Don't get me wrong: Ty Hicks expects the people whom he helps to WORK. Ty Hicks cannot do it for you. He did not waste hours yakking on the phone. Instead, he did something more important: HE HELPED ME LEARN HOW TO MAKE THESE THINGS HAPPEN FOR ME! I believe: if there is anyone in the entire world - besides you - who can teach you how to become rich - ethically - Ty Hicks is the man.

You have to ask yourself: why did Ty Hicks do this for me? I was a complete stranger; I did not even have a job, and I lived thousands of miles away from Mr. Hicks. Those who have actually gone and taken action to learn and do what Ty Hicks teaches know why. If you want to find the answer; if you REALLY WANT to become wealthy and are seriously willing to do what it requires, I suggest you follow a route explained by Ty Hicks!

How to Make One Million Dollars in Real Estate in Three Years Starting With No Cash
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall Trade (February, 1989)
Author: Tyler Gregory Hicks
Average review score:

Pathetic
I would rate this a negative if I could. This book is a scam with very little practical info, mainly just a sales job for his other junk. You will sink yourself very fast using his methods.

Check this out!
This book was first published in 1978!

I seriously doubt Mr. Hicks rewrote one word of this book for the 90's.

Gimme a break! Click on Mr. Hicks' name under the title. This will give you a list of other books written by him. Scroll down to his "Kits" Most of them about mail-order, real estate, etc. were published in 1987! Wow.

mirage
Mr. Hicks plays on the inexperience and the desperate. He focuses only on the successes and does not mention the possible pitfalls in real estate. I found the book somewhat informative, but was quite annoyed with his pitch to subscribe to his publication.
